About the cups to grams converter
A cup is a measure of volume, a gram a measure of weight — so "how many grams in a cup?" depends on what is in the cup. A cup of flour weighs about 120 g, a cup of sugar 200 g, a cup of honey 340 g.
Pick the ingredient, type the amount and choose the unit: cups, tablespoons, teaspoons, grams, ounces, millilitres or sticks of butter. You get every other unit at once, with kitchen fractions for cups and spoons.

Why weighing is better
Flour scooped straight from the bag can weigh 20% more than flour spooned into the cup and levelled. That is the difference between a soft cake and a dry one. A cheap kitchen scale removes the guesswork — and the converter lets you use any recipe with it.
Measuring flour by cup: stir it, spoon it into the cup without pressing, and level it with a knife.
Frequently asked questions
How many grams is 1 cup of flour?
About 120 g of all-purpose flour, spooned and levelled. Bread flour is a little heavier (127 g), cake flour lighter (113 g).
How many grams is 1 cup of sugar?
About 200 g of granulated sugar, 213 g of packed brown sugar and 120 g of powdered sugar.
How many grams is a cup of butter?
227 g — two US sticks. One stick is 113 g, or 8 tablespoons.
Is a cup the same in every country?
Not quite. A US cup is about 240 ml (236.6 ml), a metric cup (Australia, Canada, UK recipes) 250 ml, and a Japanese cup 200 ml. This converter uses the US cup.
Why do other charts give slightly different numbers?
Because measuring by cup is not exact — how the flour is packed, how fine the sugar is. These are the common reference weights used by baking books; differences of a few grams do not matter in most recipes.
