One PDF — resized in your browser, never uploadedAbout resizing PDF pages
A4 is the paper size in most of the world. Letter is the size in the United States, Canada and a few other countries. A PDF made on one side of the ocean often prints badly on the other: the bottom is cut off, or there is a wide white strip.
This tool gives every page of your PDF a new paper size. It can scale the content to fit the new page, keeping its shape, or only change the page size and leave the content at 100%.
Nothing is turned into a picture. Text stays real text — sharp at any zoom, and you can still select, search and copy it. Links and form fields move with the page. The PDF is never uploaded.
Features
- A4 ↔ Letter in one step — plus Legal, Tabloid, A3, A5 and any custom size in inches or mm
- Scale to fit — the content shrinks or grows to fit, keeps its shape and is centred
- Only change the page size — the content stays at 100% and is centred on the new page
- Each page keeps its orientation — portrait stays portrait, landscape stays landscape
- Sharp, selectable text — pages are not redrawn as pictures
- Links and form fields kept — they move and scale with the page
- Before and after preview — page 1 drawn to the same scale, so you see the change
The two ways to resize
- Scale content to fit (the default) — the best choice for A4 ↔ Letter. An A4 page on Letter paper is scaled to about 94%, so nothing is cut off; a thin white margin appears at the sides or the top and bottom.
- Only change the page size — the content keeps its size. A bigger page adds white space around it (handy to add room for notes or binding). A smaller page cuts off the edges, so use this only when the edges are empty.
| From → To | Scale to fit |
|---|---|
| A4 → Letter | 94% |
| Letter → A4 | 97% |
| Legal → Letter | 79% |
| A4 → A5 | 70% |
| A5 → A4 | 141% |
Common uses
- Print a European A4 PDF on US Letter paper without losing the last lines
- Send a Letter PDF to someone in Europe or Asia who prints on A4
- Make every page the same size — after merging scans and documents of different sizes
- Shrink a document to A5 for a small handbook, or enlarge A5 to A4 to read it better
- Meet an upload rule — some portals and print shops accept only one paper size
Frequently asked questions
How do I change a PDF from A4 to Letter?
Upload the PDF, choose Letter (8.5 × 11 in) and keep Scale content to fit. Then click Download resized PDF. Every page is now Letter size, and the content is scaled to about 94% so nothing is cut off.
Will the text become blurry?
No. The pages are not turned into pictures. The tool only changes the page size and scales the page's own content, so text and lines stay sharp and can still be selected.
Why are there white strips at the sides?
A4 and Letter have a different shape: A4 is a little taller and narrower. When the content is scaled to fit without stretching, a thin white strip is left on two sides. Stretching would make text and photos look wrong, so the tool never stretches.
Can I resize only some pages?
The tool resizes every page. Take the pages out first with Split PDF, resize them, and put the PDF back together with Merge PDF.
Is this the same as making the file smaller?
No. This changes the paper size of the pages. To make the file smaller (fewer megabytes), use Compress PDF.

- The size used is what PDF readers show (the crop box), so a page cropped with Crop PDF is resized from its cropped size
