Add text to a video, in your browser
Put a title at the start, a caption under someone who speaks, a label on a product, or a "Subscribe!" at the end. Type the words, drag them where you want them on the video, pick a style, and choose from when to when they show.
The finished video is made in your browser with no upload and no watermark. It is saved as an MP4 that plays everywhere — phones, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp.
Seven text styles
- Outline — white letters with a black edge, readable on any video
- Caption box — text on a see-through dark bar, like subtitles on TV
- Shadow — a soft drop shadow, calm and clean
- Meme — big bold capital letters with a thick outline
- Neon — glowing letters, great on dark scenes and for intros
- Handwritten — a friendly script font for vlogs and family videos
- Classic serif — an elegant serif for titles and quotes
Change the text colour and the outline / box colour of any style.
Several texts, each at its own time
Press Add text for another line — a title at the start, names in the middle, a call to action at the end. Each text has its own place, size, style and time. Use Now while the video plays to set the start and end exactly, and Fade in and out for a smooth appearance.

Frequently asked questions
How do I add text to a video for free?
Open the video here, type your text, drag it into place and press Make the video. There is no watermark, no sign-up and no limit on how many videos you make.
Is my video uploaded?
No. The video engine (ffmpeg) runs inside your browser, on your own device. Your video never leaves it.
Can I show text only for part of the video?
Yes. Each text has Show from and to times. Play the video, pause where the text should start and press Now; do the same for the end.
Does it work with Korean, Japanese or Chinese text?
Yes. When your text has Korean, Japanese or Chinese letters, a matching font is fetched so every character is drawn.
How long does it take?
About as long as the video plays, sometimes longer on a slow computer — the video is re-encoded with the text in it. Short clips are quickest.
Good to know
- The first video takes longer, because the 30 MB video engine downloads once
- Very long or large videos (over a few hundred MB) can run out of memory in a browser — trim them first with Trim Video
- For many timed captions from speech, use Add Subtitles to Video
