About EPUB to PDF

This free EPUB to PDF converter turns an ebook into a PDF you can open anywhere, print, or read on a device that does not know EPUB.

Drop the .epub file in. The tool reads the chapters in the right order, keeps the pictures and the cover, and lays the text out on real pages — A5 like a paperback, or A4 or Letter for printing. Page numbers are added at the bottom.

Everything happens in your browser. The book is never uploaded to a server.

What an EPUB file is

An EPUB is a small website packed into one file. Inside it are the chapters, the pictures and a list that says which chapter comes first. An ebook reader shows it as flowing text: make the letters bigger, and the pages change.

A PDF is the opposite: fixed pages, the same on every screen and on paper. That is why people convert: to print a book, to send it to someone without an ebook app, or to read it in a PDF app with notes and highlights.

The settings

  • Page size — A5 is the size of a paperback and the best choice for reading on a tablet. A4 and US Letter are for printing on normal paper
  • Text size — how big the letters are on the page. Bigger letters mean more pages
  • Margins — the white space around the text
  • Quality — Standard is sharp on screens. Print is sharper and makes a bigger file. Smaller file is for very long books
  • Start each chapter on a new page — like a printed book. Turn it off to save paper
  • Add page numbers — "12 / 240" at the bottom of every page

DRM — which books work

Many ebooks bought from big stores have DRM: copy protection that locks the book to one app or one account. This tool does not remove DRM, and a protected book will not open here. You will see a clear message instead.

Books without DRM work, and there are many of them:

  • Free classics from Project Gutenberg and Standard Ebooks
  • Books from publishers and authors who sell DRM-free
  • EPUB files you made yourself, for example from a writing app
  • Course books, manuals and reports shared as EPUB

Features

  • Chapters in the right reading order
  • Keeps pictures and the cover
  • A5, A4 or US Letter pages
  • Three text sizes and three margin sizes
  • Chapter breaks and page numbers
  • Works with every language — Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Cyrillic — because it uses the fonts on your device
  • No upload, no account, no watermark, no page limit

Good to know

  • The pages are painted as images, the same way as our Word to PDF tool. The PDF looks exact on every device, but the text cannot be selected or searched. If you need to copy text, keep the EPUB too
  • The book's own fonts and colours are replaced by a clean book layout, so every EPUB comes out readable
  • A long book takes time: every page is painted one by one. A 300-page novel takes a few minutes. Keep the tab open
  • Links inside the book (like a table of contents) do not jump in the PDF
  • Kindle files (.mobi, .azw, .azw3) are a different format and do not work here

How to use it

  • Drop your .epub file on the box, or click to choose it
  • The conversion starts right away with the default settings
  • To change them, pick a page size, text size, margins or quality, then press Convert to PDF again
  • Press Download PDF when it appears
