About adding a date stamp

Old film cameras printed the date in orange digits in the corner of every photo — and the look is back. This tool adds a date stamp to your photos in seconds.

It reads the date the photo was taken from the photo itself (the camera stores it), so every photo gets its own date. You can also use today's date or your own text — a place, a name, an event. Choose the retro orange style, white with a shadow, or black on a light box, the corner and the size.

How to use it

  • Press Choose photos and pick one or more
  • Choose the date: when the photo was taken, today, or your own text
  • Pick a format, a style, the position and the size
  • Press Download this photo — or Download all (ZIP)

Where does the date come from?

Phones and cameras save the moment a photo was taken inside the file (the EXIF "Date taken"). This tool reads it. If a photo has no date — screenshots, edited pictures, photos sent through some chat apps — it uses the file's date instead, and tells you when it found none.

Frequently asked questions

How do I add the date taken to my photos?

Load the photos and keep When the photo was taken. Each photo gets the date stored in it. Download all (ZIP) saves them together.

Why is the date wrong on some photos?

Chat apps often remove the "Date taken" when they send a photo, so the date shown is when you saved it. Use the original photo from your camera roll, or choose My own text.

How do I get the retro orange date look?

Choose the Retro film camera (orange) style and the ’26 10 24 format, in the bottom right corner — like a 1990s point-and-shoot.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser. Nothing is sent anywhere.

Does the stamp change my original photo?

No. You get a new copy with the date; the original stays as it was.

Good to know

  • The stamp size follows each photo's size, so it looks the same on every photo
  • Your style settings are remembered in this browser
  • The new photo is saved as a JPG
