About the square photo maker

Instagram, profile pictures and many apps cut your photo to a square — and off go heads, feet and half the landscape. This tool keeps the whole photo: it fits it inside the frame and fills the empty space with a blurred copy of the photo (the popular "no crop" look) or a plain colour.

Choose square, portrait 4:5 (the tallest Instagram post), story 9:16, landscape 16:9 or 3:2. Load one photo or many — the settings apply to all, and you can download them one by one or as a ZIP.

How to use it

  • Press Choose photos and pick one or more
  • Choose the shape — Square, Portrait 4:5, Story 9:16…
  • Pick a background: blurred photo or a plain colour
  • Add space around the photo if you like
  • Press Download this photo — or Download all (ZIP)

Blurred or plain?

  • Blurred photo — soft and seamless; the colours match the photo. The most popular choice.
  • White — clean, gallery-like; good for products and art.
  • Black — dramatic; good for night photos and portraits.
  • Space around the photo adds a margin even on the long side, like a print on a mount.

Frequently asked questions

How do I post a full photo on Instagram without cropping?

Make it square (or 4:5) first: choose the shape here, keep the blurred background, and download. Instagram then shows the whole picture.

What size are the pictures?

1080 px on the long side by default — exactly what Instagram uses. Choose 2048 px or As big as the photo for printing or other sites.

Do my photos get uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser, on your phone or computer. Nothing is sent anywhere.

Can I do many photos at once?

Yes. Load as many as you like; the same settings apply to each. Download all (ZIP) saves them together.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes, in the browser. If an iPhone photo is HEIC and does not open, convert it first with HEIC to JPG — or set the camera to "Most Compatible".
