About the Image Metadata Viewer & Remover

Every image file carries hidden text alongside the picture. Some of it is harmless, and some of it says far more than you meant to share: the exact spot the photo was taken, the phone or camera that took it, the date, the software that edited it — and, increasingly, tags that mark the image as AI-generated.

Drop an image in and this tool shows you all of it, in plain language, then lets you remove it or replace it with your own.

Remove the AI tags from an image

AI image tools label what they make. Depending on the generator, the label can be:

• A prompt block in a PNG — Stable Diffusion, ComfyUI, InvokeAI and NovelAI write your full prompt, negative prompt, seed, sampler, CFG scale and model name into a text chunk. Anyone can read it back.
• Content Credentials (C2PA) — a signed manifest that records that the image was AI-generated or AI-edited, and by which tool. Adobe Firefly, OpenAI, Microsoft Designer and others attach one.
• An IPTC "digital source type" tag — the value trainedAlgorithmicMedia is a formal declaration that the image came from a generative model.
• A Software or XMP tag naming the generator — Midjourney, DALL·E, Firefly, Ideogram, Leonardo.Ai and friends.

The tool scans for all four and tells you exactly what it found and where. One click removes the lot.

What it shows you

• EXIF — camera, lens, exposure, ISO, date taken, serial numbers, orientation
• GPS — latitude and longitude, with a link to see the spot on a map
• AI markers — generator names, prompts, C2PA manifests, AI-generated declarations
• XMP and IPTC — editing history, author, credit, rights, keywords
• PNG text chunks — including the compressed ones most viewers never show
• Every data block in the file, with its size, so nothing stays hidden

Nothing is re-encoded

Most "metadata removers" open your image, redraw it and save it again — which quietly re-compresses the picture and loses quality. This one edits the file structure instead: it copies the image data across byte for byte and drops only the metadata blocks. Your JPG stays exactly as sharp as it was, and the file gets *smaller*, not bigger.

After it runs, the tool re-scans the file it just made and tells you how many metadata blocks are left — so you can see the result rather than take it on trust.

How to use it

• Open the sections to see every tag, its value and where it lives in the file
• Remove — click Remove metadata & download and the clean copy saves straight away
• Or replace — go to the *Replace* tab, type your own title, author, copyright, software, date and comment, then click Apply & download
