About adding a border

A simple border makes a photo look finished — like a print on the wall. It also stops a photo from blending into a white page or a feed. This tool adds one in seconds:

  • Plain border — an even frame all round
  • Polaroid — the classic instant-photo look, with a wide bottom for a caption
  • Border with a thin line — a mat with a fine inner line, like a framed print

Choose the width (thin to extra thick), the colour (white, black, cream, navy, or any colour you pick) and square or rounded corners. The border is measured from the photo's short side, so it looks the same on every photo.

How to use it

  • Press Choose photos and pick one or more
  • Choose a style and the border width
  • Pick a colour
  • For a polaroid, type a caption if you like
  • Press Download this photo — or Download all (ZIP)

Frequently asked questions

How do I add a white border to a photo?

Choose Plain border, pick white and a width, and download. Your photo is not cropped — the border is added around it.

How do I make a polaroid-style photo?

Choose Polaroid (wide bottom). Type a caption — a date, a place, a name — and it is written in the wide bottom part.

Does the border make my photo smaller?

No. The border is added outside the photo, so the picture gets bigger and the photo keeps every pixel.

Can I add a border to many photos at once?

Yes. Load several photos; the same border is used for all. Download all (ZIP) saves them together.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser. Nothing is sent anywhere.
