About the Korean keyboard
Korean is written in Hangul (한글), an alphabet of 24 basic letters. The letters are not written in a row like English — they are grouped into syllable blocks: ㅎ + ㅏ + ㄴ makes 한, ㄱ + ㅡ + ㄹ makes 글.
This keyboard does that for you. Click the letters, or type on your normal keyboard, and the letters join into syllables as you type — exactly like a Korean keyboard on a phone or computer. No language pack, no settings, nothing to install.
How to use it
- Click the letters on the on-screen keyboard, or just type on your own keyboard — the keys are in the standard Korean (두벌식) places. No need to click the text box first, and the matching on-screen key lights up
- Type a consonant, then a vowel: ㄱ + ㅏ = 가. Add a consonant for the bottom: 각
- Hold Shift for the double consonants ㄲ ㄸ ㅃ ㅆ ㅉ and the vowels ㅒ ㅖ
- Backspace takes off the last letter you typed (한 → 하)
- Click Copy and paste the Korean anywhere, or Search Google / Translate straight away
How Hangul syllables work
- Consonant + vowel: ㅁ + ㅏ = 마, ㄴ + ㅗ = 노
- Consonant + vowel + final consonant (받침): ㅂ + ㅏ + ㅂ = 밥
- Vowel first? Korean adds a silent ㅇ: typing ㅇ + ㅏ gives 아 (the ㅇ is silent at the start)
- Two vowels together make one: ㅗ + ㅏ = ㅘ (와), ㅜ + ㅓ = ㅝ (워), ㅡ + ㅣ = ㅢ (의)
- When a vowel follows a final consonant, the consonant moves to the next syllable: 한 + ㅏ → 하나 — the keyboard does this by itself
Where the letters are
The left hand types the consonants and the right hand the vowels:
- Top row: ㅂ ㅈ ㄷ ㄱ ㅅ ㅛ ㅕ ㅑ ㅐ ㅔ
- Middle row: ㅁ ㄴ ㅇ ㄹ ㅎ ㅗ ㅓ ㅏ ㅣ
- Bottom row: ㅋ ㅌ ㅊ ㅍ ㅠ ㅜ ㅡ
This is the standard 두벌식 (dubeolsik) layout used on almost every Korean keyboard. Each key also shows the English letter in the same place, so you can learn the layout as you type.

Frequently asked questions
How do I type in Korean without a Korean keyboard?
Use this page: click the Hangul letters on screen, or type on your normal keyboard — each key gives the Korean letter in the same place on a Korean keyboard. The letters join into syllables by themselves.
Why do my letters join together?
That is how Korean is written: letters are grouped into syllable blocks (ㅎ + ㅏ + ㄴ = 한). The keyboard builds the blocks as you type, like a real Korean keyboard.
How do I type ㄲ, ㄸ, ㅃ, ㅆ or ㅉ?
Hold Shift and press the key of the single letter: Shift + ㄱ gives ㄲ, Shift + ㅅ gives ㅆ.
Can I learn the Korean keyboard layout here?
Yes. Every key shows the English letter in the same place, so you can see that Q is ㅂ, A is ㅁ and so on while you type.
Is my text saved or uploaded?
Nothing is uploaded. Your text is kept only in this browser, so it is still there if you come back.
