Making the PDF…

About the chore chart maker

A chore chart turns "Did you tidy your room?" into something kids can see and tick off themselves. This maker gives you a clean, colourful weekly chart: the chores down the side, the seven days across, and a big box for every day — for a tick, a stamp or a sticker.

Type each child's name and you get one page per child, all in one PDF. Add a "My reward this week" line at the bottom if you use rewards, pick the colours they like, and print it on US Letter or A4.

How to use it

  • Type the names of your children, one per line — or leave it empty for a chart with a name line
  • Type the chores, one per line
  • Choose which day the week starts on
  • Pick the colours and the heading style
  • Press Print, or Download PDF to print later

Chore ideas by age

AgeChores that work well
2–3Put toys in the box, put clothes in the laundry basket, help feed the pet
4–5Make the bed (roughly!), set the table, water plants, match socks
6–7Tidy the bedroom, empty small bins, help put away groceries, feed the pet
8–9Load the dishwasher, fold laundry, sweep, pack the school bag
10–12Vacuum, take out the trash, clean the bathroom sink, help cook a meal
13+Wash the car, mow the lawn, do their own laundry, cook a simple dinner

Every child is different — pick chores they can do on their own most days, and add one small "stretch" chore.

Tips that make a chore chart work

  • Keep it short. Four to seven chores is plenty. A long list feels like a punishment.
  • Make it visible. Put it on the fridge or the bedroom door, at the child's eye level.
  • Let them tick it. The point is that *they* mark it — a sticker or a big tick feels like winning.
  • Same time each day. "Before screen time" or "after dinner" builds the habit.
  • Praise the effort, not perfection — especially with little ones.
  • Print a fresh chart each week — or laminate it and use a dry-erase marker.

Frequently asked questions

Is the chore chart free?

Yes. Make as many charts as you like, with no sign-up and no watermark. It is made in your browser.

Can I make a chart for several kids?

Yes. Type each name on its own line — you get one page per child in the same PDF, each with its own name at the top.

Can I use it for adults or roommates?

Of course. Type the names of the people in the house and the shared jobs — dishes, trash, bathroom, groceries — for a simple house chore chart.

Should chores be linked to pocket money?

Families do it both ways. Many keep everyday jobs (making the bed, clearing the plate) as "part of the family", and pay or reward only for extra jobs. The reward line on the chart works either way.

What size does it print?

US Letter or A4, in landscape. Choose Black and white in the colours to save ink.
