About Statistics Calculator
Paste a list of numbers and this Statistics Calculator works out the whole descriptive set at once: mean, median, mode, range, quartiles, variance, standard deviation, standard error, coefficient of variation and skewness — plus a histogram so you can see the shape of your data.
In Excel you would need AVERAGE, MEDIAN, MODE, STDEV.S, STDEV.P, VAR.S, QUARTILE.INC and SKEW in eight separate cells. Here they all appear together as you type, and the numbers match what Excel gives you, because the same formulas are used.

What each number means
- Mean — the ordinary average: add everything up and divide by how many there are
- Median — the middle value once the numbers are in order. Less affected by one very big or very small value than the mean
- Mode — the value that appears most often. Shown as "no repeat" if nothing repeats
- Range — the biggest value minus the smallest
- Standard deviation — how far, on average, the values sit from the mean. A small number means they are bunched together
- Sample vs population — use sample when your numbers are part of a larger group (Excel's STDEV.S), and population when you have every value (Excel's STDEV.P)
- Q1, Q3 and IQR — the quarter points, and the distance between them: where the middle half of your data lives
- Standard error — how much the mean itself would wobble if you took another sample
- Skewness — which way the data leans. Zero is even; a positive number means a long tail to the right
- Outliers — values more than 1.5 × IQR outside the quartiles, the same rule a box plot uses

How to use it
