About the sign maker
The coffee machine is broken. The floor has just been mopped. The meeting room is busy. You need a sign, and you need it now.
This free sign maker prints a big, clear sign on one sheet of paper. Choose a ready-made sign or type your own words — the text is made as large as the page allows, so it can be read from across the room.
Everything is made in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, and there is no sign-up.
Ready-made signs
Out of order · Wet floor · Closed · Open · Back in 5 minutes · Meeting in progress · Please knock · Do not disturb · Staff only · No smoking — or a blank sign for your own text.
Every ready-made sign can be changed. They are just a quick start.
How a sign is built
- Top line — a short word in a coloured band across the top: CAUTION, SORRY, WELCOME
- Main text — the message, as big as it fits. Press Enter where you want a line to break; otherwise the lines are broken for you
- Small line — an extra note at the bottom, such as "We are working on it" or "Back at 2 pm"
Only the band is coloured, so a sign does not empty your ink cartridge.
Colours
- Red — warnings and "no": out of order, do not disturb, no smoking
- Yellow — caution: wet floor, step, low ceiling
- Green — open, welcome, way in
- Blue — information: meetings, please knock, back soon
- Black — plain, for any other sign
What people use it for
- Offices — broken printer, meeting room in use, kitchen rules
- Shops and cafés — closed, back in 5 minutes, toilets for customers only
- Cleaning — wet floor, do not enter
- Home — do not disturb, baby sleeping, please knock
- Events — this way, registration, quiet room
Good to know
- Landscape is chosen by default: most signs read better across the page. Portrait works for door signs
- Print several copies at once for every door or floor
- Put the sign in a plastic sleeve to keep it clean, or laminate it for a sign that will stay up
- Korean, Japanese and Chinese text works — the right font loads by itself
How to use it
- Choose a sign from Start from, or a blank one
- Change the top line, main text and small line if you want
