One PDF — turned into PNG images in your browser, never uploadedAbout PDF to PNG
This free PDF to PNG converter turns each page of a PDF into a PNG image. Drop the PDF in, and every page appears as a picture. Save one page, or download all of them in one ZIP.
It opens on PNG at 2× resolution, because that is what most people want a PNG for: text, charts, slides and diagrams that must stay sharp.
Everything runs in your browser. Your PDF is never uploaded, so it is safe for contracts, bank statements and school work.
Why PNG and not JPG?
Both are pictures, but they are made for different things.
- PNG is lossless. Every pixel is saved exactly. Letters keep clean edges, and thin lines stay thin.
- JPG is lossy. It throws away detail to make the file smaller. On a photo you cannot see it. Around text you can: small grey smudges appear next to the letters.
So a page of text, a table, a chart or a slide looks best as PNG. A page that is mostly a photo or a scan is fine as JPG, and much smaller. You can switch to JPG in the Image format box at any time.
Choosing the resolution
A PDF page has no pixels of its own — it is drawn fresh at any size. The resolution decides how many pixels you get:
- Standard (1×) — about 72 DPI. Small files, fine for a thumbnail
- High (1.5×) — about 108 DPI. Good for sharing on screen
- Very high (2×) — about 144 DPI. The default here. Sharp on phones and high-resolution screens
- Maximum (3×) — about 216 DPI. For printing, or for reading the text with OCR
If the PDF is a scan, it is already a picture. A higher setting makes a bigger copy of the same scan, not a sharper one.

Good to know
- The PNGs have a white background, the same as the page. The PDF's text becomes pixels, so it is no longer selectable — use PDF to Text to get the words out
- PNG files are bigger than JPG. A 50-page PDF at Maximum makes a large ZIP; pick a lower resolution if size matters
- A very long PDF at 3× needs a lot of memory. On an older phone, choose 1.5× or 2×
- The ZIP is built on your device too, so the PDF never leaves it
