About the Halloween countdown
How many days until Halloween? This page shows it live: days, hours, minutes and seconds until October 31, on the clock of your own device. There is nothing to set — open it and it counts.

When is Halloween?
Halloween is always on October 31. The name comes from "All Hallows' Eve", the evening before All Saints' Day on November 1. Its roots go back to Samhain, an old Celtic festival at the end of the harvest, when people lit bonfires and wore costumes.
The date never moves, but the weekday does. That matters: on a Friday or Saturday, parties and trick-or-treating can run late; on a school night they are usually shorter.

On Halloween the page says "Happy Halloween!" until midnight. On November 1 it starts counting to next year.

- Plan the costume — with 4 weeks to go, choose it; with 2 weeks, buy or make it; with 1 week, try it on
- Pumpkins — buy them early, but carve them only a few days before, so they still look good on the night
- Classroom — put it on the board in October and count the sleeps each morning
- Party — show it in full screen with the Haunted night style, and the bats flying across the TV
- Trick-or-treat — choose Halloween night; many towns start around dusk, so check your own town's hours

Is Halloween always on October 31?
Yes. The date is fixed. A few towns move trick-or-treating to another evening, for example when October 31 is a Sunday, so check your local news.
What time does trick-or-treating start?
Usually around dusk, often between 5:30 and 6:30 pm, and it ends by about 8 or 9 pm. Many towns set their own hours. The "Halloween night" choice counts to 6 pm.
How many sleeps until Halloween?
The line under the countdown shows the sleeps — the nights left before Halloween morning. On the night before, it says "Only 1 more sleep".
Can I turn off the bats?
Yes. Untick "Flying bats and ghosts". If your device is set to reduce motion, they start switched off.
