About MP3 to MP4

YouTube, Facebook and Instagram do not take an MP3 file. They need a video. This free MP3 to MP4 converter turns your song, podcast or voice recording into an MP4 video with one still picture — your album cover, a photo, or a colour background with the song name on it.

Choose the size for YouTube (16:9), a square post, or a vertical video for Shorts, Reels and TikTok. Everything runs in your browser. Your song and your picture are never uploaded.

Features

  • Any audio in — MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, OGG or FLAC
  • Your picture, or no picture — without one, you get a colour background with the song name and artist
  • 9 backgrounds — Sunset, Ocean, Night, Mint, Fire, Dark, Light, Neon, or your own colour
  • 4 sizes — YouTube 1920×1080, square 1080×1080, vertical 1080×1920, or the same size as your picture
  • 3 ways to fit a picture — whole picture on a blurred copy of itself, whole picture on a colour, or fill the frame
  • Live preview — the picture you see is exactly the picture in the video
  • Fast — a 4-minute song becomes a 1080p video in about 20 seconds at 2 fps (30 fps is there for apps that need it)
  • No upload, no account, no watermark

Fast, and good sound

A video of one still picture does not need 30 frames a second. This tool makes 2 frames a second, and the video encoder is told the picture does not change. In our test, a 4-minute MP3 became a 1920×1080 video in about 20 seconds, and the video part of the file was only about 2 MB.

Some apps prefer a normal frame rate. Choose 30 fps for them. It looks the same, but it takes about 6 times longer — around a minute and a half for a 4-minute song.

The sound: an M4A or AAC file is copied as it is, with no quality loss. Other files (MP3, WAV, OGG, FLAC) are turned into AAC at 192 kbps, the sound format YouTube and phones expect.

Common uses

  • Upload a song to YouTube with its cover art
  • Podcast episodes as a video, with the show name on the background
  • Share a voice message or a demo on Instagram, Facebook or TikTok
  • Music for a slideshow or a screen, where the player only takes video
  • Background music videos — rain sounds, white noise, a calm piano track

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert MP3 to MP4 with a picture?

Drop the MP3 on the box, then press Choose a picture. You can also drop the song and the picture together. Pick a size, check the preview, and press Make MP4.

Can I make a video without a picture?

Yes. With no picture, the tool draws a background with the song name and an optional second line, like the artist. Pick one of the 9 backgrounds, or your own colour. You can also turn the text off.

Will YouTube accept this video?

Yes. The file is a normal MP4 with H.264 video and AAC sound — the formats YouTube asks for. The video has 2 frames a second, which is fine for a still picture. If an app ever refuses the file, make it again with 30 fps.

What size should I choose?

YouTube (1920×1080) for a normal YouTube video. Vertical (1080×1920) for YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels and TikTok. Square (1080×1080) for an Instagram or Facebook post. Same as picture keeps your picture's own shape.

My picture is a different shape. What happens?

Choose how to fit it. Whole picture on a blurred copy shows all of it, with a soft blurred copy filling the empty sides. On a colour fills the sides with one colour. Fill the frame fills the whole video and cuts off the edges.

Does it lower the sound quality?

An M4A or AAC song is copied with no change. Other files are converted to AAC at 192 kbps, which sounds the same as the original for nearly everyone.

Is my song uploaded?

No. The video is made in your browser, so your song and picture never leave your device. The video engine (about 30 MB) is downloaded once, the first time you use it.
