About filling PDF forms
Many forms come as a fillable PDF: a job application, a tax form, a school or visa form, a rental contract. They have boxes you can type into — but only if you have the right program.
This tool opens the form in your browser and shows each field on top of the page, right where it belongs. Click a box and type. Tick the tick boxes. Pick from the lists. Then save a new PDF with your answers inside.
The file is never uploaded. That matters for forms, because they are full of names, addresses, ID numbers and dates of birth.
How to use it
- Click Click to upload, or drop your PDF form onto the box
- Click each field on the page and fill it in — or switch to As a list to see every field in one column
- Tick Lock the answers if the form is final and nobody should change it
- Click Download filled PDF — the file is kept up to date as you type, so one click saves it
What it can fill
- Text boxes — one line or many lines, with the form's own character limit
- Tick boxes — yes / no questions
- Radio buttons — pick one of several answers
- Drop-down lists and list boxes — pick from the form's own choices
- Read-only fields are shown but cannot be changed, as the form's author wanted
- Signature fields are left empty — to sign, use Sign PDF after filling
Letters with accents work too — German, French, Spanish, Polish, Czech, Turkish, Greek, Russian and Vietnamese. When a field needs letters the standard PDF font does not have, the tool adds a free font (Noto Sans) to the file.
Keep it fillable, or lock it
- Not locked (default) — your answers go into the form's own fields. The file is still a normal fillable form: you, or the person you send it to, can open it again and change an answer.
- Locked (flatten) — your answers become part of the page, like printed text. Nobody can change them, and the form looks the same in every PDF reader. Choose this for the final copy you send.
Everything happens on your device
The form is read and written by pdf-lib, and the pages are drawn by pdf.js — two open-source libraries that run inside your browser. Your PDF never leaves your computer or phone. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on the number of forms.
Frequently asked questions
How do I fill in a PDF form without Adobe?
Upload the PDF here, click each box on the page and type your answer, then click Download filled PDF. You do not need Adobe Reader or any program.
Why does it say my PDF has no fillable fields?
Some PDFs only *look* like forms — they are a scan or a printed page without real fields. To type on those, use Add Text to PDF, which lets you place text anywhere on the page.
Can I change my answers later?
Yes, unless you ticked Lock the answers. Upload the filled PDF again and the tool shows your answers in the fields, ready to change.
What does "flatten" mean?
Flattening turns the form fields into normal page content. The answers stay visible, but the boxes are gone, so nobody can change them.
Can I fill a PDF form on my phone?
Yes. On a small screen, switch to As a list: every field is shown in one column with a normal phone keyboard.
Is my form uploaded?
No. The PDF is opened, filled and saved in your browser, on your own device.
Why can't it fill my form?
A few forms are XFA forms, made with Adobe LiveCycle. No browser can fill those; they need Adobe Reader. Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first with Unlock PDF.
Good to know
- Your answers are written into the form fields; the rest of the PDF is not changed
- The field names come from the form itself; hold the mouse over a field to see its full name
- To add a signature after filling, use Sign PDF
- To make the filled PDF smaller for email, use Compress PDF
