How to convert degrees Fahrenheit to degrees Celsius
To go from Fahrenheit to Celsius, first take away 32, then multiply by 5/9. The order matters: the two scales have different zero points (water freezes at 32°F = 0°C).
Formula: °C = (°F − 32) × 5/9
Example: 100°F − 32 = 68, × 5/9 = 37.8°C

Frequently asked questions
What is the formula for Fahrenheit to Celsius?
Subtract 32, then multiply by 5/9 (about 0.556). 50°F − 32 = 18, × 5/9 = 10°C.
Is there a quick way to convert F to C?
Take away 30 and halve it: 80°F → 50 ÷ 2 = 25°C (exact: 26.7°C).
What is 350°F in Celsius?
176.7°C — recipes usually say 180°C.
