Click to upload or drop many PDFs
As many PDF files as you like — compressed in your browser, never uploadedAbout compressing PDFs in bulk
Scanned documents are huge. A folder of scanned contracts, receipts, school work or invoices can easily be 100 MB — too big to email, too big for an upload form, and slow to store.
This tool compresses a whole folder of PDFs at once. Drop them in, choose a level, and get every file back smaller in one ZIP. Each file shows its size before and after.
How to use it
- Click Click to upload, or drop many PDF files onto the box
- Choose the compression level — Balanced is right for most scans
- Press Compress them all and watch each file finish
- Click Download all (ZIP), or save single files from the list
Which level to choose
- Strong — the smallest files. Good for email and upload limits; small text stays readable but looks softer
- Balanced — the default. Clear, sharp pages at a fraction of the size
- Light — the best quality, for documents you will print again
Which PDFs get smaller
The tool redraws every page as a compressed image. That works very well for:
- Scanned documents, letters and forms
- PDFs made from phone photos of paper
- Image-heavy brochures, catalogues and reports
A PDF that is mostly typed text is usually already small, and redrawing it would make it bigger. Those files are kept exactly as they were, so no file in the ZIP is ever worse than the original.
Note: in a compressed file the text becomes part of the page image, so it cannot be selected or searched. Keep your originals if you need that.
Everything happens on your device
Your PDFs are compressed inside your browser:
- Private — contracts, payslips and medical letters are never uploaded
- No upload wait — even a big batch starts at once
- Free — no sign-up, no watermark, no file count limit
Frequently asked questions
How do I compress multiple PDF files at once?
Drop all the PDFs onto the box, choose a compression level, and press Compress them all. Each file is compressed in turn and you download them together as a ZIP.
How much smaller will my PDFs get?
Scanned and image-heavy PDFs often get 50–90% smaller. PDFs that are mostly typed text are usually already small; those are kept as they were.
Will the compressed PDF still be readable?
Yes. Balanced and Light keep pages sharp and easy to read. Strong gives the smallest files, with softer small print.
Can I still select the text after compressing?
No. Each page is saved as an image, so the text can no longer be selected or searched. Keep the original if you need that.
Are my PDFs uploaded?
No. Everything happens inside your browser, on your own device.
Can it compress password-protected PDFs?
No. Remove the password first with Unlock PDF, then compress the file.
Good to know
- Up to 100 PDFs per batch, processed one at a time
- File names are kept the same
- Very large PDFs (hundreds of pages) take a while and use a lot of memory; a computer handles them better than a phone
- To compress one PDF with a before/after view, use Compress PDF
