An 8 minute timer, ready to start
This timer is already set to 8 minutes. Press Start — or the Space bar — and it counts down, then plays an alarm when the time is up. No setting up, no sign-up, nothing to install.
Leave it in a tab while you work: the time left shows in the browser tab, so you can see it from any other tab. Or press Fullscreen to fill the screen with big numbers and a progress bar — handy in a classroom, a kitchen or a meeting room.
Features
- Ready at 8 minutes — or click another preset, or type any time
- Four alarm sounds — beep, bell, digital watch or a gentle chime — that keep ringing until you press Stop
- Ends at — see the clock time when the timer will finish, and add +1 min while it runs
- The time left in the browser tab, which blinks "Time's up!" at the end — plus an optional notification
- Fullscreen with big digits, a progress bar and six colour themes
- Keeps the screen on while it runs, so a phone or laptop does not go dark
- Pause and resume without losing the time left
- Keyboard shortcuts: Space start / pause, R reset, F fullscreen
What people use an 8 minute timer for
- Cooking spaghetti or other dry pasta (most packets say 8–10 minutes)
- A firm-yolk egg (about 8–9 minutes in boiling water)
- An 8-minute abs or core workout
- A short presentation or pitch with time for questions
- A screen-time warning for kids: "8 more minutes"
Pasta packets give a range — start this timer, taste one piece when it rings, and add a minute with +1 min if it is still too firm.
How to use it
- Press Start (or the Space bar) — the 8 minute countdown begins
- Press Pause to stop for a moment and Resume to go on
- Press Fullscreen to show the timer big on your screen
- When the alarm rings, press Stop, then Reset to start again
Frequently asked questions
Does the timer keep running in another tab?
Yes. You can switch tabs or minimize the window; the timer keeps counting and the alarm rings on time. Just do not close this tab.
Will the alarm ring if my computer goes to sleep?
No — a sleeping computer runs nothing. That is why the timer asks the browser to keep the screen on while it counts down.
How long do I cook pasta?
Most dry spaghetti cooks in 8–10 minutes in salted, boiling water; thin pasta is quicker and thick shapes take longer. Check the packet and taste a piece at the end.
Can I change the alarm sound?
Yes. Open Alarm options and pick a beep, a bell, a digital watch or a gentle chime — you hear it when you choose it. You can also let it ring just once, or keep ringing until you press Stop.
Is it free?
Yes. No sign-up and nothing to install, and it works offline once the page is open.
