A 5 minutes timer, ready to start
This timer is already set to 5 minutes. Press Start — or the Space bar — and it counts down, then plays an alarm when the time is up. No setting up, no sign-up, nothing to install.
Leave it in a tab while you work: the time left shows in the browser tab, so you can see it from any other tab. Or press Fullscreen to fill the screen with big numbers and a progress bar — handy in a classroom, a kitchen or a meeting room.
What people use a 5 minutes timer for
- A short break between study or work sessions (the Pomodoro break)
- A 5-minute meditation or breathing exercise
- A quick tidy-up — clean as much as you can before it rings
- A classroom transition or a short quiz
- A warm-up before exercise
Five minutes is the most searched timer — long enough to do something useful, short enough to start right now.

Frequently asked questions
Does the timer keep running in another tab?
Yes. You can switch tabs or minimize the window; the timer keeps counting and the alarm rings on time. Just do not close this tab.
Will the alarm ring if my computer goes to sleep?
No — a sleeping computer runs nothing. That is why the timer asks the browser to keep the screen on while it counts down.
What can I do in 5 minutes?
Tidy one room, answer a few emails, stretch, meditate, review flashcards or plan your day. Many people use a 5-minute timer to start a task they keep putting off.
Can I change the alarm sound?
Yes. Open Alarm options and pick a beep, a bell, a digital watch or a gentle chime — you hear it when you choose it. You can also let it ring just once, or keep ringing until you press Stop.
Is it free?
Yes. No sign-up and nothing to install, and it works offline once the page is open.
