A 1 minute timer, ready to start

This timer is already set to 1 minute. Press Start — or the Space bar — and it counts down, then plays an alarm when the time is up. No setting up, no sign-up, nothing to install.

Leave it in a tab while you work: the time left shows in the browser tab, so you can see it from any other tab. Or press Fullscreen to fill the screen with big numbers and a progress bar — handy in a classroom, a kitchen or a meeting room.

What people use a 1 minute timer for

  • A one-minute plank or wall sit
  • A minute-to-win-it party game or classroom challenge
  • A one-minute speech or elevator pitch practice
  • A quick breathing break: breathe in for 4, out for 6, until it rings

A minute is longer than it feels: try sitting still with your eyes closed until the alarm — most people open them early.

Features

  • Ready at 1 minute — or click another preset, or type any time
  • Four alarm sounds — beep, bell, digital watch or a gentle chime — that keep ringing until you press Stop
  • Ends at — see the clock time when the timer will finish, and add +1 min while it runs
  • The time left in the browser tab, which blinks "Time's up!" at the end — plus an optional notification
  • Fullscreen with big digits and a progress bar
  • Keeps the screen on while it runs, so a phone or laptop does not go dark
  • Pause and resume without losing the time left
  • Keyboard shortcuts: Space start / pause, R reset, F fullscreen
  • A stopwatch too, one tab away

How to use it

  • Press Fullscreen to show the timer big on your screen
  • When the alarm rings, press Reset to start again

Frequently asked questions

Does the timer keep running in another tab?

Yes. You can switch tabs or minimize the window; the timer keeps counting and the alarm rings on time. Just do not close this tab.

Will the alarm ring if my computer goes to sleep?

No — a sleeping computer runs nothing. That is why the timer asks the browser to keep the screen on while it counts down.

How long should I brush my teeth?

Dentists suggest two minutes. Use the 2 Minute Timer, or run this one twice — once for the top teeth, once for the bottom.

Can I change the alarm sound?

Yes. Open Alarm options and pick a beep, a bell, a digital watch or a gentle chime — you hear it when you choose it. You can also let it ring just once, or keep ringing until you press Stop.

Is it free?

Yes. No sign-up and nothing to install, and it works offline once the page is open.
