A 3 minutes timer, ready to start
This timer is already set to 3 minutes. Press Start — or the Space bar — and it counts down, then plays an alarm when the time is up. No setting up, no sign-up, nothing to install.
Leave it in a tab while you work: the time left shows in the browser tab, so you can see it from any other tab. Or press Fullscreen to fill the screen with big numbers and a progress bar — handy in a classroom, a kitchen or a meeting room.
What people use a 3 minutes timer for
- Steeping black tea (3–5 minutes)
- A soft-boiled egg with a runny yolk (about 3 minutes once the water boils)
- A 3-minute speech, debate turn or "show and tell"
- A round in boxing or a board game turn limit
Instant noodles, a short presentation and a cup of tea all fit in three minutes.

Frequently asked questions
Does the timer keep running in another tab?
Yes. You can switch tabs or minimize the window; the timer keeps counting and the alarm rings on time. Just do not close this tab.
Will the alarm ring if my computer goes to sleep?
No — a sleeping computer runs nothing. That is why the timer asks the browser to keep the screen on while it counts down.
How long do I boil an egg?
About 3 minutes for a very soft egg, 6–7 minutes for a jammy yolk and 9–10 minutes for hard-boiled, counted from when the water is boiling.
Can I change the alarm sound?
Yes. Open Alarm options and pick a beep, a bell, a digital watch or a gentle chime — you hear it when you choose it. You can also let it ring just once, or keep ringing until you press Stop.
Is it free?
Yes. No sign-up and nothing to install, and it works offline once the page is open.
