About TIFF to JPG

TIFF files come from scanners, fax machines, cameras and print shops. They are big, and most browsers, phones and websites cannot show them. This free TIFF to JPG converter turns them into ordinary JPG images that open everywhere and are much smaller.

A TIFF can hold many pages — a scanned contract, a fax, a set of photos. Each page becomes its own JPG. Drop many files at once; you get one JPG, or all of them in one ZIP.

Your files are read in your browser with a small TIFF reader. Nothing is uploaded, so it is safe for contracts, ID scans and medical papers.

Features

  • Every page of a multi-page TIFF becomes a JPG
  • Many files at once — download each JPG, or all as a ZIP
  • Reads the common TIFF types — uncompressed, LZW, ZIP/Deflate, PackBits, JPEG and CCITT G3/G4 fax
  • Many colour types — black and white, grey (8 and 16-bit), colour (8 and 16-bit), palette, CMYK
  • Transparency is placed on white, since JPG has none
  • Quality slider — smaller files or more detail
  • Thumbnails of every page before you save
  • Clear messages — if a file cannot be read, it says why

Which TIFF files work?

TIFF is a container with many options. This tool reads the ones you meet day to day:

  • Compression: none, LZW, ZIP / Deflate, PackBits, JPEG, and CCITT Group 3 and Group 4 (scanners and fax)
  • Colours: black and white (1-bit), grey (2, 4, 8 and 16-bit), RGB (8 and 16-bit, with or without alpha), palette, and CMYK from print work
  • Pages: any number; small preview copies some programs add are skipped

A few rare kinds are not supported: BigTIFF (files over 4 GB), 32-bit floating-point images, JPEG 2000, ZSTD or WebP compression, and "planar" files that store each colour in a separate block. If a file is one of these, its card tells you so.

CMYK is changed to screen colours with a simple formula, without a colour profile, so print colours can look a little different on screen.

Common uses

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert a TIFF to JPG?

Drop the TIFF file on the box, or click it to choose it. Each page is turned into a JPG at once. Click Download JPG, or Download all (ZIP) when there are many.

How do I convert a multi-page TIFF to JPG?

Just drop it in. Every page becomes a separate JPG named after the file and the page number, for example *scan-page-2-AppAndTools.jpg*. All pages are in the ZIP.

Will I lose quality?

JPG is a lossy format, so a little detail is lost. At the default quality of 90 you will not see it on photos. For text scans, keep the quality high. If you need exact pixels, PDF with lossless images (TIFF to PDF) is the better choice.

Why can't my browser open TIFF files?

Most browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox) have no TIFF viewer. That is why this tool brings its own TIFF reader, which runs on your device.

Can I convert many TIFF files at once?

Yes. Select or drop as many as you like, or press Add more later. They are all converted and can be saved together in one ZIP.

Are my files uploaded?

No. The files are read and converted in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server.

How to use it
