XLSX, XLS, XLSM, ODS or CSV — split in your browser, never uploadedAbout this tool
This free tool splits a spreadsheet into several smaller files. Upload one .xlsx, .xls, .ods or .csv, choose how to cut it, and download every piece in a single ZIP.
It all happens in your browser — the file is never uploaded, so a customer list or payroll export never leaves your computer.
Two ways to split
- Every N rows — cut a long sheet into equal chunks: 500 rows per file for an import that has a row limit, or 1,000 per file to hand out in manageable pieces.
- One file per value in a column — the useful one. Pick a column and get one file per distinct value in it: one file per region, per department, per salesperson, per date. The rows are grouped automatically and each file is named after the value.
The header row is repeated in every file, so each piece opens as a complete, usable spreadsheet rather than a headless block of data.
Choose the output format
Download the pieces as Excel (.xlsx) files if people will open them, or as CSV files if they are going into another system. Either way they arrive in one ZIP, named after the original file and the part or column value.
