HEIC / HEIF — converted to PNG in your browser, never uploaded

About HEIC to PNG

iPhones and iPads save photos as HEIC (also called HEIF). It keeps files small, but many Windows programs, websites and editors cannot open it. This free HEIC to PNG converter turns those photos into PNG images that open everywhere.

The page opens on PNG, because that is what you came for. PNG is lossless: every pixel the HEIC decoder gives is stored exactly, with no new JPEG blur on top. It is the safe choice when you want to edit a photo, cut it out, or keep the best quality.

Drop one photo or many. Each one appears as it is ready; save them one by one, or all together as a ZIP. Everything runs in your browser — your photos are never uploaded.

Features

  • HEIC / HEIF → PNG, lossless
  • Many photos at once — they are converted one after another
  • Download one, or all as a ZIP
  • Preview of every converted photo
  • JPG too — switch the format to JPG for smaller files, with a quality slider
  • Private — runs in your browser; nothing is uploaded

PNG or JPG?

  • PNG keeps every pixel exactly. Choose it to edit the photo, to use it in a design, or to keep the best copy. The file is larger — a 12-megapixel iPhone photo is often more than 10 MB as PNG.
  • JPG makes much smaller files (often 2–4 MB) and looks the same to the eye. Choose it to share or upload many photos. The HEIC to JPG page opens on JPG.

A HEIC photo from a camera has no see-through parts, so the PNG has none either. To cut out the background afterwards, use Remove Background.

Common uses

  • Open iPhone photos on a Windows PC or in an editor that does not read HEIC
  • Get a lossless copy to edit in Photoshop, GIMP, Canva or Figma
  • Upload to a site that accepts PNG but not HEIC
  • Convert a whole set of photos from your phone in one go
  • Need smaller files afterwards? Use the Image Compressor or Bulk Image Converter

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert HEIC to PNG?

Drop your HEIC photos on the box, or click it to pick them. Each photo is turned into a PNG in your browser. Save each one with its download button, or click Download all (ZIP).

Is HEIC to PNG lossless?

The PNG is lossless: it keeps every pixel of the decoded photo. The HEIC itself was already compressed by the phone, so the PNG cannot add detail that was not there — but it does not lose any more.

Why is the PNG so much bigger than the HEIC?

HEIC is a very efficient lossy format. PNG stores every pixel without loss, so a photo needs many more bytes. If size matters more than editing, choose JPG.

Can I convert many HEIC files to PNG at once?

Yes. Select or drop as many as you like. They are converted one after another, and the ZIP button saves them all in one file.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. The conversion runs on your own device, in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server.

How to use it

  • Upload HEIC photos — click the box or drag and drop (as many as you like)
  • Keep PNG selected (or switch to JPG for smaller files)
  • Download — save each image, or click "Download all (ZIP)"
