JPG, PNG or WebP — cropped in your browser, never uploadedAbout cropping an image to a circle
A round picture looks better almost everywhere a face or a logo goes: a profile picture, a team page, an email signature, a sticker, a slide. Many apps show a circle anyway, and cut off whatever is in the corners — so it is better to choose the circle yourself.
This tool cuts your photo into a perfect circle, or into a rectangle with rounded corners. Everything outside the shape becomes transparent, so the picture sits cleanly on any background — white, dark or coloured.
It works on your device. Your photo is never uploaded.
Circle or rounded corners
- Circle — the box is locked to a square, so the circle is always round, never an oval. Drag the box to centre the face, drag a corner to make it bigger or smaller.
- Rounded corners — any rectangle, with soft corners. Use the Corner roundness slider: a little for a modern photo card, a lot for a "pill" or app-icon look.
The dark area shows exactly what will be cut away.
Why the download is a PNG
A circle has corners outside it. A JPG cannot be see-through, so it would fill those corners with white or black. A PNG keeps them transparent — that is why the result is always saved as PNG, whatever you uploaded.
Output size
- Original keeps the full resolution of the area you chose — the sharpest result
- 1024, 512, 400, 256 or 128 px make a smaller file, ready for an avatar or an icon. The tool only makes the picture smaller, never bigger, so it never gets blurry
Most sites ask for a profile picture of at least 400 × 400 px.
What people use it for
- A round profile picture for LinkedIn, a CV, Discord, Slack, Teams or a forum
- Team photos with the same round shape on an "About us" page
- A round logo or badge for a website or a social media account
- An email signature photo
- Stickers, buttons and badges to print
- Rounded-corner photos for slides and documents
Good to know
- Keep the face in the middle of the box — a circle cuts more off the corners than you expect
- The source should be at least as big as the size you want; a tiny photo stays tiny
- Need a rectangle without rounding? Use Crop Image
- Want to remove the background behind a person first? Use Remove Background, then crop the result here
Frequently asked questions
Is it free, and is there a watermark?
It is free, there is no sign-up, and nothing is added to your picture.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The crop is made on a canvas inside this page, on your own device.
Why is my circle an oval?
It cannot be — in Circle mode the box is always square. If you see an oval somewhere else, that app stretched the picture; upload the PNG at its own size.
Why does the corner look white in some apps?
Some apps cannot show transparency and fill it with white. The PNG itself is still transparent.
