About the Audiogram Maker

An audiogram is a short video made from audio: a still background, a title, and a waveform that moves with the sound. Podcasters use them because audio cannot be shared on social media, but video can — and a waveform that moves is what makes someone stop scrolling long enough to hear a sentence.

This tool makes one in your browser. Upload a clip, choose the colours, press Make the video, and download it.

Nothing is uploaded. Your audio and your cover image stay on your device.

Making one that works

• Use a short clip, not a whole episode. Between 30 and 60 seconds is right. Take the most interesting thing anyone says and use only that. Cut the clip first with the Audio Trim tool on this site.
• Square is usually the safest size. It works in a feed on any platform without being cropped. Use portrait for Stories and Reels, landscape only for YouTube.
• Write the title as the hook, not as a label. "Episode 12" makes nobody click. "The bread mistake everyone makes" does.
• Keep the contrast high. A dark background with a bright waveform reads on a small phone screen. Two mid-tones do not.
• Add captions afterwards if you can. Most people scroll with the sound off, and a waveform alone tells them nothing. Use the Add Subtitles to Video tool on this site.

The three waveform styles

• Bars — bars rising from the bottom. The most familiar look, and the clearest at small sizes.
• Mirrored bars — bars growing from the centre outwards. A bit more decorative, still readable.
• Line — a continuous line. The most subtle, and the best choice when there is already a cover image doing the work.

Good to know

• The video is recorded as it plays. A one-minute clip takes one minute. There is no way around this that would still guarantee the waveform matches the sound exactly.
• Leave the tab open and visible while it records. Browsers throttle background tabs, and that makes the waveform stutter.
• You can press Stop early and keep what has been recorded so far.
• The file is a WebM. It uploads fine to YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and X. If you need an MP4, use the Video Converter on this site.
• This needs Chrome, Edge or Firefox. Safari's recording support is patchy and may refuse.
• The waveform follows the frequency content of the audio. Quiet speech produces a small waveform — that is accurate, not broken. Lift the level first with Change Audio Volume if it looks flat.

How to use it
