A 20 minutes timer, ready to start

This timer is already set to 20 minutes. Press Start — or the Space bar — and it counts down, then plays an alarm when the time is up. No setting up, no sign-up, nothing to install.

Leave it in a tab while you work: the time left shows in the browser tab, so you can see it from any other tab. Or press Fullscreen to fill the screen with big numbers and a progress bar — handy in a classroom, a kitchen or a meeting room.

What people use a 20 minutes timer for

  • A 20-minute power nap
  • The 20-20-20 rule for your eyes: every 20 minutes, look 20 feet (6 m) away for 20 seconds
  • A 20-minute workout, run or yoga session
  • A reading session before bed
  • Roasting vegetables or baking a small cake

Desk workers can set this timer on repeat as a reminder to stand up and rest their eyes.

Frequently asked questions

Does the timer keep running in another tab?

Yes. You can switch tabs or minimize the window; the timer keeps counting and the alarm rings on time. Just do not close this tab.

Will the alarm ring if my computer goes to sleep?

No — a sleeping computer runs nothing. That is why the timer asks the browser to keep the screen on while it counts down.

What is the 20-20-20 rule?

Every 20 minutes of screen time, look at something 20 feet (about 6 m) away for 20 seconds. It helps against tired, dry eyes.

Can I change the alarm sound?

Yes. Open Alarm options and pick a beep, a bell, a digital watch or a gentle chime — you hear it when you choose it. You can also let it ring just once, or keep ringing until you press Stop.

Is it free?

Yes. No sign-up and nothing to install, and it works offline once the page is open.
