About the Word Cloud Generator

A word cloud is one picture made out of your words. The words you used most often come out biggest, so anyone can see the main ideas in a second, without reading everything.

Paste your text — an essay, survey answers, product reviews, a speech, meeting notes — and the cloud appears as you type. The tool counts every word, drops the common ones like "the" and "and", and draws the rest as a cloud you can download as a high-resolution PNG.

Everything runs in your browser. Your text is never uploaded.

  • HR and managers — the themes hiding in a staff survey
  • Events and weddings — a keepsake poster made of guests' words

How the size of a word is decided

Every word is counted. The word used most gets the largest size, and the rest are scaled down from it by how often they appear, so a word used twice as often looks clearly bigger. Words are then placed one by one, largest first, spiralling out from the middle and skipping any spot that is already taken.

If a word cannot find a free spot, it is left out and the tool tells you how many were skipped. Show fewer words or pick a bigger picture size and they will fit.

How to use it

  • Paste your text in the box, or upload a .txt or .csv file — the cloud is drawn as you type
  • Set the options — how many words, colours, font, background and size; the picture updates at once
  • An example cloud is shown before you type anything, so you can see what the options do
  • Check the word count table below if you want the raw numbers
  • Click Download PNG to save the picture
