About the Photo Slideshow Maker

This free slideshow maker turns a folder of photos into a video you can send to someone or post. Choose the pictures, set how long each one stays on screen, add music if you want, and press Make the video.

Your photos are never uploaded. The video is drawn and recorded inside your browser, which is worth knowing when the pictures are of your family or your children.

There is no watermark and no length limit.

Getting the order right

Photos arrive sorted by filename, because a camera roll is usually numbered in the order it was taken and that is almost always what people want.

If it is not, drag any photo to move it. The number in the corner shows where it will appear. Click the × to take one out.

Settings that change how it feels

• Seconds per photo — 3 seconds is the default and suits most slideshows. Go down to 2 for a fast, energetic sequence; up to 5 or 6 if the pictures have detail worth looking at.
• Crossfade — how long one photo takes to dissolve into the next. Around 0.6 s looks natural. Set it to 0 for hard cuts, which suits a fast slideshow set to music with a strong beat.
• Slow zoom — each photo drifts slightly closer while it is on screen. This is the single setting that makes a slideshow look made rather than assembled: still pictures feel like footage when they move a little.
• Video size — landscape for YouTube and TVs, square for Instagram feed posts, portrait for phone screens and Stories.

Adding music

Press Add music and pick any audio file you have. It starts with the video and, if the track is shorter than the slideshow, it loops.

Two things worth knowing:

• Set the seconds per photo so the total length roughly matches the song. The number of seconds is shown above the photos as you adjust it.
• Use music you have the right to use. A slideshow for your own family is one thing; posting one with a commercial track on a public account may get it muted or taken down by the platform.

Good to know

• The video is recorded as it plays, so it takes about as long to make as it is to watch. A two-minute slideshow takes two minutes. You will see it being drawn.
• Leave the tab open and visible while it records. Browsers slow down background tabs, and that shows up as a stuttering video.
• The file is a WebM, which plays on every modern phone, computer and on YouTube, Instagram and Facebook. If you need an MP4, run it through the Video Converter on this site.
• Very large photos are scaled to fit as they are drawn, so a folder of 40-megapixel images works — it just uses more memory.
• This needs Chrome, Edge or Firefox. Safari's video recording support is patchy and may refuse.
