About this tool

This free Excel to CSV converter turns a spreadsheet into plain CSV text — and turns CSV back into a real .xlsx workbook. Drop in an .xlsx, .xls, .xlsm, .ods or .csv file and the converted data appears straight away, ready to copy or download.

Everything runs in your browser. Your spreadsheet is never uploaded, which matters when the file holds customer lists, payroll figures or anything else you can't hand to a random website.

Every sheet in the workbook

Workbooks with several tabs are fully supported: a sheet selector appears above the output, so you can convert each tab and download it as its own CSV file. The row and column count of the current sheet is shown next to the file name.

Any delimiter

CSV is not always comma-separated. Choose the separator that your system expects:

• Comma — the international standard
• Semicolon — what Excel uses in many European locales
• Tab — for TSV files and pasting into other tools
• Pipe — common in database and ETL imports

Values that contain the delimiter, a quote or a line break are quoted automatically, so the file stays valid.

CSV back to Excel

Switch the toggle to CSV → Excel to go the other way. Paste your CSV (or upload a .csv file), check the preview table, name the sheet, and download a genuine .xlsx workbook that opens in Excel, Google Sheets, LibreOffice and Numbers.
