About the video speed changer
This free tool speeds up or slows down a video right in your browser. Choose a speed from 0.25x to 4x, check the preview, and download the new file. Nothing is uploaded, there is no watermark and no sign-up.
The sound is handled properly. When you keep the audio, the tool corrects the pitch so a sped-up voice does not turn into a chipmunk and a slowed-down voice does not turn into a monster. If you would rather have silence, one checkbox removes the sound.
What each speed is good for
- 4x / 2x — long screen recordings, cooking or building clips, a quick time-lapse feel
- 1.5x / 1.25x — tighten up a talking-head video without it sounding rushed
- 0.75x / 0.5x — slow a dance move, a sports action or a tutorial step so people can follow it
- 0.25x — real slow motion for a short, dramatic moment
The tool shows the new length before you start, so you know exactly what you will get.
Features
- Presets from 0.25x to 4x, plus any custom speed in between
- Pitch-corrected sound, or no sound at all — your choice
- Live preview at the chosen speed before you build the file
- Shows the new video length as you change the speed
- MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV in — MP4 out
- 100% in your browser — the file never leaves your device
Good to know
Changing speed re-encodes the video, so it takes longer than a simple trim, and the result is an MP4 whatever you put in. A one-minute clip usually takes under a minute on a normal laptop.
Very slow speeds repeat frames. If you want smooth slow motion, film at 60 fps or higher and then slow it down here.
The first time you use it, the tool downloads its video engine (about 30 MB). That is a one-time download.
How to use it
- Drop your video on the box, or click to choose a file
- Pick a speed — or type your own in the custom box
- Watch the preview; it plays at that exact speed
- Choose whether to keep or remove the sound
- Press Change the speed, wait for it to finish, then Download
