About 8D Audio

This free tool turns a song into 8D audio: the music moves slowly from your left ear to your right ear and back again, as if it were turning around your head. Put on headphones, drop in a song and press Play.

You choose how long one turn takes, how far the sound moves, and how much reverb it gets. The reverb puts the song in a room, and that makes the movement feel wider. You hear every change while the song plays.

Everything happens in your browser. Your song is never uploaded.

Features

  • Automatic left-right movement — a smooth, slow turn from ear to ear
  • Speed of the turn — from 2 to 20 seconds per turn
  • How far it moves — from a small sway to all the way into each ear
  • Light reverb — from none to a big hall, for a wider sound
  • Four presets — Gentle, Classic 8D, Fast spin and Big hall
  • Works on mono files too — the effect is just as clear on a mono recording
  • Live preview — what you hear is the file you download; MP3 (128–320 kbps) or WAV, one-click download
  • Private — no upload, no sign-up, no watermark

How the 8D effect works

"8D" is not eight dimensions. It is a panning effect: the song is mixed into one sound, and that sound is moved smoothly between the left and the right channel, again and again. A little reverb adds the feeling of a room around you. In headphones, your brain hears this as a sound circling your head.

Because the song is first mixed into one sound, a mono file works just as well as a stereo one. The yellow line on the waveform shows where the sound is at each moment: at the top it is in your left ear, at the bottom in your right ear.

Use headphones. Speakers send both channels into both ears, so on speakers you only hear the sound move a little.

Common uses

  • 8D songs — the "use headphones" versions of popular songs on YouTube and TikTok
  • Relaxing and study music — a slow, gentle turn (12–20 s) feels calm
  • Headphone tests — a slow turn shows that both earbuds work
  • Video and game edits — a sound that moves around the listener

Frequently asked questions

Is it free, and is my song uploaded?

It is free, with no sign-up and no watermark. The song is changed in your browser and is never sent to a server.

Why do I need headphones?

The effect moves the sound between the left and the right channel. Headphones keep the two channels in separate ears, so you hear the movement clearly. On speakers both ears hear both channels, so the effect is much weaker.

What does "One turn takes" mean?

It is the time for the sound to go from the left ear to the right ear and back again. 8 seconds is the classic 8D speed. Shorter is faster and more dizzy; longer is calmer.

Will my stereo song still sound stereo?

The song is mixed into one sound before it moves, so the original left-right mix is replaced by the moving sound. This is what makes the effect strong and clear. The reverb adds some width back.

Why is the file a few seconds longer?

With reverb on, about two seconds are added at the end so the last echo can fade out.

Is what I hear the same as the file I download?

Yes. The preview and the file go through the same effect, and the movement is at the same place at the same time. When you change a setting, the file is made again in the background, and the Download button comes back when it is ready.
