Seoul Subway ("the app", "we", "us") is a Seoul metro route and timetable app. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app does and does not handle. By using Seoul Subway you agree to this policy.

Summary (the short version)
- The app does not ask who you are. There is no account, no sign-in, no name, no email, no phone number.
- Your saved routes and settings stay on your phone. They are never sent anywhere.
- The app does not use your location. It never asks for the permission.
- The app shows ads, and those ads are personalised. That part involves Google and is explained below.
- The app works offline once its map and timetable files are downloaded.
What the app keeps on your phone
Three things, all stored on the device and nowhere else:
- Saved and recent routes — for example 주안 → 부평.
- Your settings — language, station-name language, how many shortcuts.
- Downloaded map and timetable files — so the app works with no signal.
None of this leaves your phone. There is no server that holds it, so there is nothing for us to look at, sell, or lose.
To delete it: remove a route from the app, or clear the app's data in Android Settings, or uninstall the app. Any of the three removes it for good.
What the app sends over the internet
One thing, to one place:

The app downloads its map, timetables, colours and languages from there. It is a plain download of public files — the same files for everyone.
The app does not send your searches, your saved routes, your settings, or anything that identifies you or your phone.
As with any download, the server that sends the file can see the request arriving, including the IP address it came from. That is how the internet works, and it is the same for any app or web page.
Location
The app does not use your location. It never asks for the permission and it cannot read your position.
You choose your stations by typing or tapping them.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
The app shows a banner ad at the bottom of the screen. Ads are what pay for the app.
The ads come from Google AdMob. To choose which ad to show you, Google may collect and use:
- Your device's advertising ID — a resettable number Android gives to apps for exactly this purpose,
- device and app information — model, operating system version, language, the fact the ad was shown in this app,
- Your approximate location, from your IP address — the country or city, not where you are standing,
- what you do with the ad — whether it was seen, whether it was tapped.
Google uses this to show ads it thinks are relevant to you. This is what "personalised advertising" means. It also uses it to count ads and to detect fraud.
We never see any of it. It goes to Google, not to us. We are shown totals — how many ads were displayed, how much they earned — and nothing about any individual person.

Your ad choices
Where the law requires your consent — the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and other regulated regions — the app asks before any personalised ad is shown, using Google's own consent form. If you say no, you still get ads, but they are not personalised: they are chosen without using anything about you.
Everywhere, on any Android phone, you can turn personalisation off yourself:
- Android: Settings → Google → All services → Ads → *Delete advertising ID*
- Android: Settings → Google → All services → Ads → *Opt out of Ads Personalisation*
After that the ads continue, but they are no longer chosen using your advertising ID. Nothing else in the app changes.
How information is used
- Your routes and settings: solely to provide the app's functionality on your device (planning routes, showing timetables, remembering your shortcuts).
- Advertising data (via Google): to display ads, measure their performance, and limit repetitive ads, as described by Google.
We do not sell your personal information.
Data sharing
We do not share your routes or settings with anyone — they never leave your device. The only third party involved is Google AdMob, which processes the advertising-related data described above to provide ads within the app.
Children's privacy
The app is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect anything from them. It is a public transport timetable.
Security
There is no account to break into and no personal data on any server, because none is collected. What is on your phone is protected by your phone's own security (screen lock, OS sandboxing).
The app talks to its data server over HTTPS.
Changes to this policy
If this changes, the date at the top changes with it. If it ever changes in a way that affects what is collected about you, that will be said plainly here rather than buried.
